Meddling with the institutions (and even the Constitution) of India is unfortunately written into the DNA of the Congress with crony-ism and toadying being apparently the only requisite qualifications for high position in the party. Oh also, surname.

The rot started right with Indira Gandhi, and really, has seeped into the culture of the party which continues to extol her supposed virtues, actively suppressing any discussion of her numerous assaults on the institutions necessary for the functioning of a democracy, and quietly ignoring her infamous assault on the Constitution.

The Congress continues to be as corrupt as ever. It has only improved its media savviness and changed some faces here and there. That's about it.
